Smith & Wesson | .32 Hand Ejector Third Model | .32 S&W Long | Six rounds | Double-action/single-action revolver | 3¼ inches | Worn blue with brown patina
COMPLETE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Offered here is an early Smith & Wesson .32 Hand Ejector Third Model revolver chambered in .32 S&W Long. This vintage six-shot revolver features a 3¼-inch barrel, round-butt I-frame, fixed sights and period-style black checkered hard-rubber grips bearing Smith & Wesson monograms.
The .32 Hand Ejector series helped establish the compact swing-out-cylinder revolver configuration that Smith & Wesson continued developing throughout the twentieth century. Unlike earlier top-break revolvers, the Hand Ejector uses a cylinder that swings outward from the frame and a manually operated ejector rod for removing fired cartridge cases.
This example’s photographed serial number, 284849, falls near the beginning of the accepted Third Model serial range. It was most likely manufactured during the late 1910s, approximately 1918–1919. An exact production or shipping date would require confirmation through Smith & Wesson historical records or a factory letter.
The revolver retains its traditional fixed-sight configuration and appears to remain substantially original. The black checkered grips appear period-correct but show age-related wear and visible damage around the butt.
This is an appealing example for a Smith & Wesson collector, early double-action revolver enthusiast or someone assembling a collection of pre-model-number Smith & Wesson firearms.
CONDITION STATEMENT:
Fair-to-good vintage condition.
The revolver retains portions of its original factory-blue finish, with considerable finish thinning, brown patina, oxidation and scattered surface wear visible across the frame, cylinder and barrel. The cylinder flutes and exposed metal surfaces show additional age-related discoloration and finish loss.
The black checkered hard-rubber grips appear period-correct and retain their Smith & Wesson monograms. They show handling wear and visible cracking, chipping or material loss around the bottom of the grip area. Please examine the close photographs carefully.
The serial number on the butt remains legible. The barrel markings are visible but show age-related wear. No attempt has been made to represent the finish as restored or refinished.
The bore, chambers, timing, cylinder lockup, headspace and internal mechanical condition have not been independently documented. The revolver has not been test-fired by us unless specifically stated elsewhere.
Because of the revolver’s age and early production, it should be inspected by a qualified gunsmith before firing.
PRE-HEAT-TREATED CYLINDER NOTICE:
Serial number 284849 predates the commonly cited introduction of factory heat-treated cylinders in this model around serial number 321000.
This does not automatically make the revolver unsafe, but it is an important period-specific feature. The firearm should be evaluated by a qualified gunsmith before use and should only be fired with appropriate standard-pressure ammunition determined suitable for the revolver.

What is MAP Pricing?
MAP stands for Minimum Advertised Price. It's a policy set by manufacturers that limits how low retailers can advertise their prices.
The good news? We can often sell below MAP - we just can't show that price publicly. When you request a price by email or add to cart, you'll see our actual (often lower) price.
This isn't a trick - it's how we stay compliant while still offering you the best deals possible.
