Concealed Carry Handgun

The North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Law requires that anyone who obtains a North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Permit must first successfully complete a training course.  This class satisfies those requirements.

This is a one day class split into two sections: 8-9 Hours Total

(Note: State Law REQUIRES that the class be at least 8 hours)

The Lecture:  Students will be presented with a lecture on the laws of self defense in North Carolina as well as nomenclature of various handguns and the basics of marksmanship fundamentals.  Students must complete a written examination with a score of at least 70%.  The lecture will be presented at the Locust Police Department, located at 211 Town Centre Drive, Locust, NC 28097.  This address is not available through Google Maps, as it is a new address.  You can Google Map 460 West Main St, Locust, NC and click on Street View, look Northwest and you will See Ray Kennedy Drive.  Turn onto Ray Kennedy Drive, then turn Left between Subway and Bank of Stanly.  The Police Department is in the big building behind Subway.

The Range:  Students must successfully qualify with a handgun on a thirty-round course of fire in order to receive a certificate of completion which is required to receive a Concealed Carry Handgun permit.

This class dispels common myths about a citizens right to use force against another person and is recommended for everyone, even if you don't own a handgun.  A lot of people have been told incorrectly what their rights are when it comes to self defense and the defense of others and their property.  This class will teach the student what is allowed by law and what is not.

While there is no age requirement for the class, in North Carolina, you must be 21 years old or older in order to apply for and receive a Concealed Carry Handgun permit.

Students must bring their own handguns to qualify with.  You do not have to qualify with the same weapon you carry concealed.  It must only meet the state's definition of a handgun.

Once the student receives his or her Concealed Carry Handgun permit, this permit may be used to purchase a handgun in lieu of a handgun purchase permit issued by the sheriff.  This is a huge benefit if you go to gun shows or find a really good deal on a handgun somewhere and do not have a permit already issued to you.

$100.00 (includes range fees)
A signed Liability Waiver is REQUIRED prior to participation in this class.  A $25.00 registration fee is required to reserve a place in the class and the $75.00 balance is due at the beginning of class.  You can mail your reservation fee to KEY's Gunshop, Post Office Box 117, Locust, NC 28097.  Make checks payable to KEY's.  When pre-registering for the class, be sure to include your full name, the date of class you are registering for and a working telephone number.  Registration fees are non-refundable.
