Basic Tactical Training
This class is designed for the experienced firearms owner who
wants to learn basic tactical techniques. This class will
instill the Safety First Mindset that every gun owner should live
by, as well as the survival mindset. This class is also
designed for law enforcement officers who want more combat training
Prerequisites: The
Advanced
Marksmanship Class.
This is a two day class that is split into two sections:
The Lecture: This portion of the class is
designed to reinforce general firearms safety. The lecture
portion also covers shooting positions, reloading techniques,
shooting while moving techniques, evasive action techniques, shotgun
techniques and malfunction clearing. The lecture portion of
the class is performed the morning of the first day of class.
The rest of the day and the next day are all spent on the range.
The Range: This portion of the class is a
practical hands-on approach to basic tactical techniques, teaching
the student how to safely and accurately draw and fire a handgun
from multiple positions. It will also teach shotgun techniques
such as the proper way to "mount" a shotgun, carry positions and
"combat loading". Also, practical exercises using "dummy
ammunition" to simulate weapon malfunctions and clearing techniques.
The Basic Tactical Training Class is an advanced class that uses
multiple targets and multiple weapons. That being said,
students must have more than a basic understanding of their handgun
and shotgun and have experience using both. Basic and advanced
marksmanship fundamentals understanding is a must since they will
not be covered in this class. Students must also be in
relatively good physical shape as there is running, dropping and
rolling integrated into the class.
Students may bring their own weapons, or may rent weapons from KEY's
Gun Shop for a nominal fee.
